ISU to host Symposium on Sustainability

Next Monday, Feb. 25, is the beginning of Iowa State University’s Symposium on Sustainability.

The event will feature keynote speakers Adam Hammes, Manager of Sustainability for Kum and Go; Daniel Krohn, Global Sustainability Lead for Becker Underwood, Inc./BASF; Michael Smith,  Associate Vice-President Real Estate and Sustainability for Hy-Vee, Inc.; and Liv Watson, Director for International Business Development for WebFilings.

The symposium is free, but registration is required.

Green New Year’s resolutions

Iowa State University’s All Things [Live] Green blog has released a set of “green” resolutions for the upcoming year.

The list includes embracing fair trade in February and practicing environmentally friendly spring-cleaning in May.

ISU tips for being a “green” college student

Earlier this week we posted the University of Iowa’s eco-friendly tips for college students. Iowa State University also has a series of “green” suggestions for the school year.

Some of ISU’s top ten tips are to turn off video game consoles when they aren’t in use, replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent lights and to shop with reusable bags.
