Video: water testing for beef and dairy farmers


There are easy options for beef and dairy farmers who want to test how runoff is affecting nearby water.

Farmers running small and mid-sized operations can now obtain cheap water testing kits from 20 different Iowa State University Extension and Outreach offices. Directions for using the kit are in the video above.

Iowa groups use music to teach children environmental literacy


Iowa groups are using music to teach children about environmentalism. Ames Public Library, Iowa State University Extension and Iowa Learning Farms partnered together to create a CD entitled Dogs, Frogs and Nature Songs. The Iowa group Joyful Hearts created the music for this CD.

Anatomy of Iowa Floods: Preparing for the Future – Seminar Series – 2010

Next stop: Red Oak. The Iowa Floods of 2008 are receding into history, but Iowans can learn from them, and from flooding this past summer. That was the message put forth in community seminars sponsored in part by the University of Iowa Center for Global and Regional Environmental Research this summer and fall.
