Iowa DNR receives funding boost from fishing license sales

Our unusually warm winter and early spring benefited both Iowa’s fishers, and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

Fishers have already reported great early catches, and this has led to an increase in fishing licenses sold by the Iowa DNR. In the first quarter of this year the DNR sold 100,072 fishing licenses – far more than they have sold in the first quarter of any of the past ten years.

This provides an increase in revenue for the DNR’s Fish and Wildlife Trust Fund, which mainly goes towards protecting Iowa’s fish and wildlife.
