Forestry experts questioning use of city’s dollars

City officials in Des Moines have recently proposed an 11-year, $10 million plan to hinder the destruction of ash trees by the emerald ash borer.

Some officials believe it is the best course of action, but others argue that efforts should be focused on cutting down ash trees, rather than treating them. Opponents of the proposal also argue that ignoring other trees that need attention will be detrimental to the city.
