Hurricane Delta is gaining power as it threatens to hit Louisiana as early as Friday afternoon, according to CBS News. This is the sixth time in the last several months that residents are filling sandbags and boarding up windows to prepare for storms.
This Category 3 storm has sustained winds of 120 miles per hour and as of now, is 285 miles south of Cameron, Louisiana.
This hurricane season is the most active on record with around 20 storms so far, according to Iowa Environmental Focus. “Hurricane-associated storm intensity and rainfall rates are projected to increase as the climate continues to warm,” said NASA.
