On Thursday, the governor and attorney general of Michigan agreed to pay $600 million to residents of Flint, Michigan who were affected by lead poisoning from the Flint Water Crisis as a settlement for a class action lawsuit, according to WXYZ, the local ABC news station in Detroit.
In 2014, former governor Rick Snyder ordered Flint, Michigan to switch from the Detroit water supply to the Flint River, which was more corrosive and resulted in lead leaching from the pipes into the water supply.
There are an estimated 8 thousand kids with some level of lead poisoning along with more than 150 people who have died from Legionnaires Disease in Flint.
