Read this week’s radio transcript below, or listen to the audio here. This week draws focus to the upcoming Living With Floods events.

Ironically, given the current flooding in Iowa, this month marks the fifth anniversary of the record-setting 2008 floods.

This is the Iowa Environmental Focus.

The severe flooding which hit Iowa five years ago had a devastating effect on many Iowa communities. Since then, these communities have worked hard to recover.

In commemoration of the record floods, the University of Iowa is organizing a series of events called Living with Floods. The project aims to raise awareness about progress made since the flood and ongoing recovery efforts.

The project will conclude the second week of June with a performance by the New Orleans based Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

Free concerts will take place in Des Moines, Council Bluffs, Muscatine, Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Iowa City, and Dubuque.

  1. Great journalism — direct and easy to understand. You can actually read and maintain the information without reading two or three times.
