The National Weather Service has announced that there could be a potential flood along the Iowa River later this week or next week based on heavy rain fall this week.

The City of Iowa City is preparing for the possible flood by taking precautionary measures around the areas in which the flood would affect.

Preparations include the preparation of pre-bagged sand bags, reduction of traffic near the Mayflower residence hall building to provide easy access for installation of a Hesco flood barrier wall in front of the building, and closing southbound traffic on North Riverside Drive starting Wednesday to install a flood wall in front of Art Building West.
