Read this week’s radio transcript below, or listen to the audio here. This week’s segment recaps a first annual renewable energy conference.

Iowa’s first-annual High School Renewable Energy Conference drew a large crowd.

This is the Iowa Environmental Focus.

The Iowa High School Renewable Energy Conference was hosted on March 27th at Nevada High School. The day-long event included a keynote address from Governor Terry Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds. The event also featured six educational sessions on renewable energy topics such as wind turbine technology and the production of biofuels.

Two-hundred and twenty students from 13 central Iowa high schools attended the event. DuPont Pioneer and the Iowa FFA Foundation were the sponsors. The organizers of the event hope the Renewable Energy Conference continues for many years.
