Listen to this week’s radio segment here or read the transcript below. This week’s episode highlights Tim Dwight’s efforts to bring additional solar electric power to the University of Iowa.
Former Hawkeye football star Tim Dwight has proposed a plan to bring more solar energy to the University of Iowa.
This is the Iowa Environmental Focus.
Dwight proposed a plan to install 1,240 kilowatts of solar electric power at UI in 2013.
The solar panels would cost $3.1 million, but save the university $100,000 in energy annually. The panels would also help eliminate 1,500 tons of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide every year.
The proposal calls for the panels to be placed on the Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex, Kinnick Stadium, the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center, and many other buildings around campus.
