Listen to this week’s radio segment here or read the transcript below. This week’s episode highlights the efforts of an Iowa City based non-profit group.

Not all solicitors want your money; some just want to improve your home’s energy efficiency.

This is the Iowa Environmental Focus on sustainable communities.

A group of University of Iowa students are going door-to-door in Iowa City offering to help homes and businesses become more energy efficient free of charge.

This effort is part of the “Our Power” program through the “Summer of Solutions” nonprofit group – a group that focuses on lowering human’s impact on the climate.

The students do small repairs and weatherization in the homes and businesses, which lowers energy use and saves the owners money.

This group has worked with more than 100 homeowners to improve energy efficiency.

Additionally, Summer of Solutions has helped work on three community gardens and a sustainable public art project his year.
