Listen to this week’s radio segment here or read the transcript below. This week’s segment suggests environmentally friendly tips for spring cleaning.
Getting ready for spring cleaning? This year, take measures to clean you home without dirtying the environment.
This is the Iowa Environmental Focus.
Small changes to your cleaning routine can help lower your environmental impact. For instance, consider using cleaning agents with a “Design for the Environment” seal. These products are deemed safe for humans and the environment by the Environmental Protection Agency.
You can also create your own environmentally friendly cleaning agents using combinations of household items like vinegar, baking soda and lemon juice.
Also, try cutting up old towels or clothes and using them as rags. This recycles the material while offering an environmentally friendly alternative to single-use paper towels.
