Listen to this week’s radio segment here or read the transcript below.  It discusses a new educational oppertunity that the University of Iowa is creating to assist in wind energy development.

With the help of a recent grant, the University of Iowa hopes to educate the next generation of wind energy experts.

This is the Iowa Environmental Focus.

The Iowa Alliance for Wind Innovation and Novel Development awarded the University of Iowa with a grant worth nearly $100,000. This grant will go towards a specialized wind energy education program.

Students will be able to choose one of two paths: wind energy production or geographic information science for wind energy.

All of the available courses will be in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and College of Engineering. Professors involved in the program believe this education will lead to more productive management of wind energy in Iowa.

Thanks to the University of Iowa for making renewable energy a priority.

I’m Jerry Schnoor from the UI Center for Global and Regional Environmental Research.

Thank You.
