
The UI’s Iowa Memorial Union look a little greener this weekend.
From Thursday to Sunday it will play host to the 2011 Iowa Renewable Energy Association Symposium and Exposition – the only event of its kind in the state.
The symposium, organized by the Iowa Renewable Energy Association (I-Renew), opens at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 28 in the IMU with a free sustainability concert featuring musician Mason Jennings. Over the following three days, the symposium will feature informational seminars, speakers and workshops covering renewable energy, sustainable living, green building, energy efficient technology and alternative transportation.

Gov. Terry Branstad, who will speak at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Lilia Abron – founder and CEO of PEER Consultants, PC, an environmental consulting firm headquartered in Washington DC.
Lou Licht – Associate Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineerring, University of Iowa. Founder and president of Ecolotree, Inc. Since 1990, Ecolotree has designed and installed phytoremediation systems at over 55 sites in America and one in Europe.
Tim Dwight – iPower (Integrated Power Corporation) Business Development Director and former University of Iowa and NFL football player.
