This summer I’m going to highlight some beautiful nature areas in Iowa. Here’s a gallery of Hickory Hill Park in Iowa City. It contains terrific trails for hiking, running and dog walking. It also contains more than 13 acres of restored prairie. The various trail entrances and a map are available here.
- A trail entrance on 7th Ave.
- A stone on the trail baring the park’s name.
- An open part of the trail near the 7th Ave. entrance.
- Bridge at one end of the open trail section.
- Small structure containing information about the trail including a trail map.
- Interesting design on one of the trail markers.
- My favorite bridge! Its wobbliness is both disconcerting and kind of fun.
- Log step heading up a hill.
- Trail lined with prairie.
