Pilot project hopes to spur Iowa City’s recycling

With the help of state funding, Iowa City is starting a pilot program that will implement recycling services at up to 12 apartment and condominium complexes for six months.

At the end of the six months, property owners will have to decide whether or not to keep the recycling services at their own expense.

Almost half of Iowa City residents live in multifamily units, but the vast majority of apartment and condominium buildings do not offer private recycling services.

For more information on the pilot project, read The Gazette’s full article here.
