On the Radio: Regent universities awarded for environmental contributions

Check out this week’s radio segment here.  It discusses the Environmental Excellence Awards received by the state’s regent universities earlier this year.

The sustainability efforts of Iowa’s regent universities have caught the eye of Governor Branstad.

This is the Iowa Environmental Focus

The Governor announced the recipients of this year’s Environmental Excellence Awards. Among the honorees was the state Board of Regents, which governs the University of Iowa, Iowa State University and University of Northern Iowa.

Each university made significant strides in creating a more sustainable environment on campus in recent years. The schools’ accomplishments include limiting paper use, incorporating alternative energy, purchasing more local food and encouraging green transportation.

While this recognition is well-deserved, our universities continue to strive to be among the leading green colleges and universities in the entire country.

Congratulations to all the recipients of the governor’s Environmental Excellence Awards. For more information, visit IowaEnvironmentalFocus.org.
